Something relevant to this thread: previously someone mentioned the WoTC non-core books as proving Perform is handled like Knowledge, Craft, etc. In the erratta for Magic of Fearun (p.2) is this line:
"p. 37, Spelldancer requirements:
The Perform fallacy, requiring 6 ranks in Perform (dance) should be Perform (dance, other forms) 6 ranks "
