The Punisher movie

If you haven't followed the link on the news page, here it is:

Long story short, Frank Castle's now an undercover cop whose family is killed, he's being played by the guy from that awful Sweetest Thing movie, and John Travolta (ugh) is going to be the villain.

I smell Marvel's first flop here. You really don't need much of an origin story for Punisher; he's just super-pissed, end of story. They should have done Ennis & Dillon's first miniseries. I wanted to see bears eat gangsters.

You would of thought they would be smart enough to stick with what brought the character back from the dead, not that smart i guess. Thomas Jane is a decent actor though. Just not sure he's right for this movie.

Well, it might still make a decent plotless action flick... ;)

I think the Ennis & Dillon miniseries would've worked pretty well, actually. Punisher really does not need much of a backstory. I think it would work well to start the story 'in the middle' and establish Castle's background during the movie in flashbacks and conversations...

Obviously you haven't seen Captain America, Fantastic Four, and a few others I could name. :)

(Sadly I have seen both and really want those precious minutes of my life back. :( )

Let me rephrase it for him, "Marvels first recent flop (starting with Blade)."

I thought Blade II was a flop.

Blade II made $81 million before it was released to video. No figures found on that earning. 81 million is not technically a flop. We'll likely see Blade III - I hear it's somewhere between scriptwriting and casting now.
