D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

Even if a majority says it's right doesnt make it objectively right. Only that a majority holds that subjective opinion.
Nobody said otherwise.

You're still completely wrong.

By your reasoning you'd be defending adding whole bulbs of garlic to ice cream since taste is subjective and some people would like that.

The majority of fans rejected the changes to Purple Dragon Knights, that's why WOTC didn't go forward with them being a dragon pet class.

The same goes for why the UA Tiefling lore of them being universally considered as heroes was thrown out as well.

And why there's still Alignment.
If in the revised lore (as indicated by this thread title) PDK's are associated with amethyst dragons, then clearly, either the majority did not reject the change in lore or if they did WoTC choose to ignore this.
They have not as far as I know, released anything with respect to how people voted in the PDK. They seem to have rejected the notion of the banneret (PDK) having a pet.

Going by the evidence WOTC had gone all-in on the collaboration between the Purple Dragon Knights and Amethyst Dragons and could only pull back on the Purple Dragon Knight/Banneret being a pet class.

Everything that could reasonably be undone was undone.

They said ih obe GenCon interview that the issue was mechanics, not lore.

I am not sure what "All in" means in this context. It appears that there will be some connection between the order of the Purple Dragon Knights and amethyst dragons and that they will not be a pet class, but I do not know that it warrants the fuss being made. Maybe it does or then again perhaps not.

Yes but we never really got the lore. Enough of a connection to justify a pet class but no idea as to why this came about (unless I missed something). It could be cool or not, I think the fuss is largely unwarranted but then I am not a fan of inviolable canon.

Are we back to this nonsense that the existence of a home game is a priori cause of a multiverse?
Yes. That's what a multiverse is. Multiple universes. Every game is its own universe. And as they are all D&D, they are all D&D universes as part of the D&D Multiverse.

Just because you don't want to admit that, doesn't mean that it's not true and that WotC doesn't treat everything that way.
