Yeah. The laser cannon is far more interesting. The right-angle gun is effectively a pistol who's barrel is mounted on a swivel. Big whoop.

Yes, the laser cannon is very interesting- I'm -pretty thrilled about it. However, I also think that this seemingly less impressive weapon will have a larger impact on warfare. Soldiers can attack their opponents with virtually no risk to themselves, when these others are similarly armed. With accuracy!

While it would be sweet if that laser was like a science fiction-styled raygun, I'm sure it's more like a big light beam that heats the missle to the point that its computer fries out or its payload detonates, rather than vaporising the missle in mid air. Then again, I'm completely speculating.

Remember, the article says that this technology was developed and successfully tested NINE YEARS AGO! I wouldn't be surprised if it's already on the front and this whole 'congress' thing is just a ruse.
