I sent Skip a letter asking about the formula to do a dragon's SR.
Here is his response:
"The actual "formula" is CR +12.
That's because SR is had to figure out. You can't assign a CR without knowing how good SR is and you don't know that until you know CR.
So, a dragon with SR will defeat spells about 55% of the time (assuming the attacking spellcaster is the same level has the dragon's CR. ("Standard" SR should about a 50% chance of defeating a spell.)"
