This strange creature’s body resembles a humanoid bear, with shaggy brown fur and large claws. Its head is ridged, and has pointed ears, large expressive eyes and a short trunk.

Trumpies are a species of alien creatures reported to originate from another planet.

A trumpy stands about the height of a human child, but is very broad and muscular for its size. They like children, and often entertain them with their ability to do “magic things”. Other than children, trumpies shy away from humanoids, and once met with violence will react with violence, sometimes going on killing sprees if seriously provoked. Trumpies live simple lives out in their forest homes, feeding on nuts and berries (almost constantly; the easiest way to a trumpy’s heart is through its stomach). They make few goods, but collect and use useful items they find or take from their victims. They have mammal-like traits, but lay eggs, which they defend with their lives (a trumpy that loses a brood will often be the one that kills people). Trumpies mature within days of being hatched.

Trumpies speak Trumpish, a language of groans and hoots that is difficult for humanoids to learn. They can communicate telepathically, but rarely have much to say.

Combat
When provoked, trumpies are savage fighters, using their claws to tear their foes apart. They use their spell-like abilities to provide with distractions (they are especially fond of using fear) and set traps and ambushes.

Spell-like Abilities: At will- animate rope, color spray (DC 16), fear (DC 19), ghost sound, levitate, mage hand, presdigitation; 3/day- animate objects, confusion (DC 19), hideous laughter (DC 17), protection from arrows, telekinesis (DC 20); 1/day- irresistible dance (DC 23). Caster level 12th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Skills: Trumpies receive a +4 racial bonus to Move Silently checks.

Edit: Here's the best Trumpy picture I could find.

Nice work. I've never seen the original, but the picture sure is goofy. :)

Although he's no monster, Mitchell is another worthy MST3K entry.

That's just plain evil.

What's next, statistics for Coily the Spring Sprite?

That's way out of my league. Coily is in Dieties and Demigods territory. I mean, he causes all of the springs in the world to vanish just to teach one doughy guy a lesson? That is one powerful little imp.

Although I might be tempted to work on a MST3K Monster Manual. It'd include Trumpy, the mole people, the the eye creatures, the crawling terror, Torgo (a template) and maybe even a few Gamera creatures. It'd also include supplemental rules for gods such as Coily and Manos, and a few artifacts (the Mask of the Pumaman and the Evil Cymbal Monkey spring to mind)...
What do you think, sirs?

The Krankorians (since Krankor was the name of the planet) are definately in, and the Phantom of Krankor is a definite NPC possibility.

Which means, of course, that the MST3K Monster Project is officially underway, and quickly too. I'm already 8 deep, with little end in sight. I'm going to be posting previews irregularly throughout its creation, starting right about now...

Demiurge out.
