Crooks Exeunt
Devlin and Ryland think, The Guard should've arrived by now, it's been more than 20 minutes. Where are they?
Fatwon, calmer now, picks up the eight remaining bags, and Jobe lowers his crossbow but does not put it away. Fatwon, still standing, says in a huff, "Well Mr. Brimbor, what do you suggest? We stand here and shed tears and call each other names, or shall we go to Monemvassia?" Jobe responds, instantly Kamdar's companion again, "Yes. Yes, I think that would be best." The half-orc nods. "We must spend another year on the quest. Well sir, it will be an additional expenditure in time of only five and fifteen-seventeenths per cent," he says with an exasperated smile. "I believe there is just one ship leaving for Monemvassia today, is there not?" Jobe nods rapidly.
Kamdar looks at both Ryland and Devlin. "Quite frankly sirs, I'd like to have you along. You're gentlemen of nice judgment and many resources. No matter, no matter. I regret that I could not help you find your friend's murderer." The fat crook turns to Brigit and bows slightly. "Milady, I'm sorry that our business relationship was filled with so much turmoil. Perhaps, in other circumstances, we could have been excellent associates." Addressing everybody, Kamdar says, "Here." He tosses one more bag of platinum onto the table. Jobe cringes. "I trust you'll all keep silent about our activities and our destination, yes? I leave the rara orbis on the table there, as a little momento - heh, heh. Good bye." With another bow, Kamdar turns and waddles out of the room. Jobe, clearly still nervous, raises his crossbow and backs out of the room slowly.
OOC: Jobe never gives you the opportunity to surprise him, and both Devlin and Ryland have a feeling that Kamdar is not easily caught unawares. Brigit has sat quietly chewing her lip throughout this whole exchange. If you still want to attack, despite the lack of a surprise round, please tell me and we'll roll initiative. Otherwise, read on...
[sblock=If nobody stops them...]Kamdar opens the door and walks out into the hall, Jobe follows, and Kamdar gently closes the door behind (well, in front) of the elf. A whispered conversation can be heard outside.
[sblock=Listen DC:25]"That was far too much money, Fatwon."
- "Yes, well, freedom from the law is expensive, but it's a price I'm willing to pay."
"Agreed. You're sure there is a boat leaving today?"
- "Positive, unless you managed to burn that one down as well."
After about a minute of similar conversation, footsteps walk away.[/sblock]
Brigit stands and moves to the other side of the table. She says, "I... I don't know how to thank you, both of you. When Archer died, I was sure Flodal would come after me next, and then when Flodal was murdered too, I... I gave up all hope. You, both of you, I owe you so much." She glances at the door, a worried look on her face. "I'm afraid to stay in this city, Kamdar is so fickle. Oh, I can't thank you enough, but I must leave, and quickly." She picks up one of the bags of money as she speaks.[/sblock]
