Oh No! imagine the Cockroaches

Fear the Cockroach MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh you just had to bring that up... cockroaches immune to poison and being stomped on. Some might even fight back with things like laser vision and mind control!

Animals do not get superpowers, unless they have language. I'm imagining this being some kind of force that any mind capable of semantic reasoning can access, I suppose some of the severly retarded would remain normal. Perhaps a few apes (like Koko) would gain powers.

I wasn't thinking of immunity from disease being given gratis although obviously some people will pick disease immunity as their wildcard power and others will have disease/injury curing superpowers.

I'm assuming the energy to grant the super powers is some kind of free 'mystical' energy. If 6 billion humans suddenly had flight, and the appetite of an elephant, the biosphere would be stripped completely within months, nothing would survive.

While the automobile industry will probably collapse, bulk cargo will still need to be shipped by truck/rail/plane/ship so the oil & gas industries are pretty safe although they will take a definite hit from the loss of the auto.

And yeah, I'm guessing a lot of wars would sweep the world, and it would NOT be pretty. Isreal would probably get swarmed under, but would surely nuke a few cities as they died. Any place where an ethnic minority rules over an angry majority (Like Rwanda, or much of Africa and the middle east) it would probably be a bloodbath. You'd probably see a lot of assasinations too. I suspect the global economy would collapse in the disorder and mass migrations.

Imagine someone with the superpower of giving animals/inanimate objects sentience/speech. Surely *somebody* would want that ability. "If these walls could talk", and all that.

Now imagine being attacked by superpowered kitchenware.

Everyone would be dead within 20 years.

I have long believed that we should be gratetful for frailty. Until we gain super wisdom to accompany our super strength, we are better off being mere mortals.

Heck, I'd give 5 at the outside.

But that's because I don't think anyone would want to farm.
