The timeline as read from the books, and DRAGON

Well, since Archmage was put in core, and red wizard, and more, I'll start there. I haven't looked at spell compendium to in depth, but I know spells were renamed from both settings to be core, from there it's one step. Then we talk about the stuff from Eberron placed in MM3. From FR Pherimm (sp?) were made core. Some of these thing talk about how they work in the other world.

[Edit] Not to mention that Greyhawk being the default core setting make all this stuff Grewhawk. *sigh*

I thought you said Eberron. FR is another story. Keep in mind that much of what is in 3x FR products was originally core/Greyhawk in prior editions. A large amount of creatures in Monsters of Faerun were in pre-FR monster manuals, for example.

Archmage is such a generic prestige class that it really isn't setting-specific. I'll give you Red Wizards, though.

Since when did Phaerimm go core? I've only seen them in FR products.

I'm afraid I've de-railed this thread, and apologize to the OP. We probably need a big ol' Campaign Settings vs. Generic thread (and a Canon vs. Non-canon thread). :\

I'm sorry too. Umm, I think Phaerimm is in MM3. Also believe the living constuct thing is in MM3. That is a core book is it not?

I also think the shifter is in MM3.

I think the only core product that the Phaerimm have appeared in is the 2nd Edition Monstrous Annual Volume Three. Their 3rd edition appearances are limited to Monsters of Faerûn and Lost Empires of Faerûn.

My bad. Could have sworn I've seen them somewhere else recently. But the shifter and warforged are in MM3 for sure.

I've been playing for 25 years and I never knew there was a "D&D canon" of any kind. I know there is a rough timeline for Greyhawk, & FR, etc. But These worlds were always seperate and unconnected to me, D&D is just a game system.

I have very much enjoyed this thread. As a history nerd, there's nothing I like more than reasoned, citable sources for timelines and histories.

I've been tinkering with similar thoughts over the past few years, but my resources are far more limited than Shemeska, James, and Erik's. Then again, I consider them experts in their fields for a reason. *G*

I may have to throw what I'm got onto paper (or a website, at least), and then go from there.

Dragonlance/Realms crossover

I can give one sample of a Dragonlance/Planescape crossover. A kender from krynn features in the Realms in the book Tymora's Luck, by Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak. It was brought to the realms (or rather, Sigil, then Finder Wyvernspur's realm) by Fizban, a Krynn deity. Also, it says that Takhesis' realm (the Abyss) is actually an area of Baator in the Great Wheel cosmology. Which suggests that there must be an overlap. It does however say that there are no portals from Krynn to Sigil, which suggests that there is some distancing.

Your timeline: doesn't seem to mention the Obyriths, the Wind Dukes of Aaqa, the Draedens, etc. Where do they fit in?

Other DL crossovers:

- The Wizards Three: Dalamar, Mordenkainen and Elminster
- In one of the Baldur's Gate games (set in FR), there are some travelers from Krynn

Someone needs to Wiki this timeline.

Which one of them? *chuckle*

Some of the events are hazy enough that we can't say for certain when they happened, though we can pin down rough timeframes depending on what assumptions we make. Rips is rather nice though, I'll admit.
