The Tomorrow People

Does anyone here have seen the tv show "The Tomorrow People"? It was an old 70's scifi kid/teens show done in the UK or Canada. If so I need ask some questions. Would you consider them superheroes in way? Anyone remember their "hero" code?

I do indeed remember seeing the show, but only very, very vaguely. (I must have been very young.) Because my parents never had cable when I was a kid, I'm assuming that it must have been broadcast on PBS.

I only have vague recollections of two episodes. One was an episode that involved hypnotism or brainwashing, in which the group were being split up into different color-coded gangs. Each gang "wore" its color on a pin (which I believe was the focus for the thought-control), and the two different pin/gang colors were blue and green.

The other episode that I have a vague memory of was one where the group was transported to an alternate universe in which the Roman Empire had never fallen. (In that universe, humans were much more technologically advanced.)

That's the extent of my memories of the show. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. But thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)

I remember The Tomorrow People, though I can't remember many of the episodes very clearly. The characters were a bit like superheroes, although their powers were very limited, mainly telepathy and telekinesis. And they had a computer named Tim who could 'jaunt' (teleport) them, with the aid of special belts they wore.

Their code of honor was basically that they couldn't kill, not even to save themselves.

Also, the series was revived in 1992 by Nickelodeon, I think.

Yep, watched it as a kid, and enjoyed it a lot at the time. "Green and Blue" was quite a scary episode as a school kid, and I'm sure I remember some schools ending up banning blue and green badges for a while :)

The tomorrow people weren't superheroes as such, they were 'the next generation' of humanity - people with a small degree of telepathy, teleportation and telekinesis (The belts were there to help them 'jaunt' over longer distances, but it was a natural ability).

One of the key elements was that proto-tomorrow people tended to 'break out' in their teens - the point when telepathy suddenly hits them, and it was a traumatic time.

Many of the adventures seem to be about agencies or groups who were trying to capture them and use them for their own ends, while the team were trying to find and help other kids who were breaking out.

One agency had a drug which suppressed their abilities when injected.

They didn't have a code which prevented them from hurting people - they literally, physiologically, couldn't bring themselves to hurt someone.

...You do realise I'm going back over 30 years for these memories, don't you?

I've found a site here that probably helps

I remember it, it was a great series(the original one, not the remake), i remember they were the next evolutinary step with the power of the 3 t's(teleportation, telekinisis, and telepathy), the leader of the group was John, and they spent a couple of episodes were spent with them helping some aliens in space, and finding that there was a limit on how far from the earth they could teleport. That was one of my favorite shows from when i was a kid, I also loved You Can't do that on Television, which came on after Tomorrow People.

It reminds me of the X-men, a group of people with strange powers trying to what they believe is right, without trying to reveal their powers pubicly to prevent a public backlash.

My wife brought home a DVD with a bunch of The Tomorrow People episodes on it. She teaches Drama for youth, and one of her professors loaned it to her. I watched a bunch of them, but I think only the first few stuck in my memory.

Plane is right, they could jaunt on their own. One of the episodes was their teacher discovering her own powers after she saw one of The People jaunt into a supposedly empty classroom. She later, when frightened, jaunted without knowing how, and a rescue mission to what I can only assume was the astral plane was mounted.

So that one and the blue/green one I remember.

Hey all, thanks for the replies, I have been busy writing my campaign. I do have other questions I need help with. The info I am looking for is what was the set-up of the Galatic trig/Federation, the TP morals or code, what powers have they shown from the 70's show and the book series (if you read them)?
