to remember that it doesn't matter a hill of beans what anyone else thinks of your game and style as long as you and your players are having fun;

and the converse

to remember that your style is not the One True Game and you really don't need to bother trying to convert the world and pissing everyone off.

...that is better to get some kind of response, even a negative one, than just plain apathy. Apathy tastes like chicken.
