D&D 5E The Warlord shouldn't be a class... change my mind!

Level 5 in 5e or so is a level 1 4e Anything, so when they are suggesting multiclassing that is what I look for can it do its level 1 tricks at level 5 if so that is baseline. (three more levels however is like 6 more levels in 4e) - so yeh level 8 is a couple levels late. "Feel" is a bit subjective admittedly, but I couldnt do my low level Swordmage without epic levels of multiclassing (and it was not because of power) meh.
I mostly meant what a 5e full class Warlord would feel like once it has its subclass and all that.

Eh. Inappropriate. But I have no comprehension why warlord can not be a fighter archetype. Thematically and mechanically it fits well.

Because of the basic Fighter build doesn't leave enough wiggle room to fit in ALL the different Warlord concepts?

Well yes. But it wasn't really all that well designed around the idea of reskinning. Feats with racial prerequisites that were meaningless if reskinned, powers that were linked that to specific energy sources - endless paragon paths that had no reason to exist other than to enable a character concept that could have been just as easily been enabled by reskinning something that already existed.

I really don't see 5e as being any more difficult to reskin.
Reskinning ain't always the answer in replacing Core Material...It's Just A quick Fix Solution for people Who Don't Know Core Point.!....The Elves Of Jammer Different than ground realm elves.....If that be the case there is no need to differentiate the different types of elves also.....just put all elves in one category.....Racial this Takes Away From Pantheon's And Geography....Special abilities..... but this a quick fix As Well... So How Far You Gonna Quick Fix Before You eliminate all animated Game play ......Nother Point....there's Different Types of deity/magic/etc.

Let's Keep In Mind Dynasties or Empires....Here is A Npc Type Warlord....It just Gives Basic Stats but Dam ...It's Warlord Perception Different.... Please Enjoy And Use ....I will Incorporate All 3 Hard Cover To be Used....These Individuals Are An Org ...

My point Is This.....This Leaders Assassin's are Specialized....suggesting a base form ....Does it mean that all assassins showed have the same base? No cause this Is A Specific Type Of Army.... And Significantly even if you don't like old Warlord as a kingdoms base form. Take into account it is a Excellent support Npc character.....And Even if didn't run this type character it may be worth a fighter Lord or Even A Wizard To Hire This Fellow As A Henchman....Helpspending That Gold(from PC many big adventures).... It's Worth That At A Bear Minimum.. As A Wizard If My First Spell risk Spell Failure Hell yeah Npc hitme with a +10 to succeed....You Really Can't Deny The Fact Of It's Usefulness especially if you converted ad&d battlesystem of wide scale war.....To Your 5th edition game.... Also Labyrinth Lord Warlord is not restricted using any arms or armor....meaning it's build ain't arguing any penalties to hit normally....-2,-4 etc.... This Particular Warlord Resembles Man At Arms From Masters Of The Universe.....And It Has a few spells on it's list of being a fighter.....What your arguing is that we all have same class restrictions and that is really not up for parley by us but by dm.....But Yes I Say Leave It In....Of Course there's Several kits a fighter can get to match this....but the training of these particular Warlords are different by profession and purpose..... Another example... Let me have a Samurai/BladeMaster dual class and let me hire A Warlord of labyrinth as a Hirelings and see how long anything you put against it that ain't high cr last.....Count it up for samurai Shogun ..Then Add my stacks on BladeMaster class...and after that....in middle of my Battle let Hirelings boost me.....Don't let me have feat improved sunder...lol.....Now That's Straight Demolitions cause I already hit before I even roll the dice avoiding a roll of one....And don't have me be a dual weapon specialist also cause then you got A Problem.....A massive ginsu That all they have to worry about is rolling a 1 .....You Still Think This Class Ain't Worthy But Hell You Sure As Hell DON'T Want This be An Npc Against You....Though He May Not Be As Strong as Other fighters he has Alittle no how of everything....ManAt Arms Hirelings Perfect Even if You Don't Want him As A PC class....

So, the issue about the Warlord isn't about the Warlord qua Warlord; instead, the Warlord is a synechdoche for 4e; more specifically, the Warlord is a symbol of two things:
See, I'm gonna say there's another thing: The Warlord-lites, the Battlemaster, PDK and Mastermind, show there's a possibility for it. But they only scratch the surface of it, so people want to dive deeper into the Warlord-space of design

People want that yelly-shouty character who has the ability of leading, not necessarily fighting. You be a Battlemaster? You've got a bit of that, but you're also still a Fighter at your core. Mastermind's the same thing but with Rogue. Arcane Trickster and Eldritch Knight don't fulfill the Wizard fantasy, just scratch the top of it,, and they're showing there's enough of a gap there for the Warlord to squeeze himself into

Well said😎👍

I struggle to understand the resistance to building a proper Warlord; I think its fan base is broader than psionic classes but I agree totally that the non-eldritch blast Warlock is really screwed. There may be balance issues that need to be covered by level limits to prevent dipping but the lack of options for every other cantrip is very annoying.
