The Wilder class (overpowered?)

Hello,
I have just built a monstrous NPC with 4 levels of wilder. This creature's attack is focused on the Dissipating Touch Power and augmenting it fully, also including the extra augment ability through the wild surge ability. The rules also allow inclusion of the Maximise Power feat.
As far as I can see Maximise Power is simply a trade of 4 power points for every numeric value of the spell to be at maximum level. Maybe I have missed something but if you Maximise dissipating touch (at class level 4) which is already augmented and wild surged then you deliver a touch attack that deals a guaranteed 36 hit points, which will destroy most player characters of 5th level or below in a single attack.
Have I missed something here? This seems way to strong for just 4 class levels.

cheers

You can't maximize it. You can't spend more PP on a power than your manifested level, in this case 4. Now, you could if you used Wild Surge, but then you'd be Maxmizing a 2d6 Dissipating Touch, which deals... 12 damage?

General rule for DMs to follow: if it sounds overpowered for your group, don't use it. Either adjust its CR or lower its level, but don't throw something at your party that you don't expect them to be able to handle unless you want to scare your players away.

Second, I think Dandu has it right. You need to take a closer look at the way psionics work.

cheers, you guys rock. I rarely use psionics except as a weird ability of occasional aberrations and so-forth as they generally don't feel right in my campaign setting. But as I am statting out a Farspawn, Wilder seems like the most appropriate class for erratically and unstably ripping holes in the firmament of creation. Thankfully these have now suddenly become much more manageable in my game mechanic.
This makes perfect sense now.
