D&D 4E The WotC designers will be bashing 4e once 5e is announced . . .

Theres been complaints, perhaps to soften people up, but there has been complaints (the developer podcast being a main example)...

1) bards
2) combat speed
3) char gen
4) spells per day running out
5) grappling
6) fighter-type lack of boom at high levels

And some of the things that are being talked about have been previewed, or at least mentioned else were

1) skill streamlining
2) 20-30 levels of spells
3) alternatives to spells per day (see warlock).
4) manuevers, fighter type boom (Bo9S).

But asmodeus as a god. That, I have heard no demands for or forshadowing.

It wasn't that long ago that if you posted "I don't like the Pokemount" in the general rpg forum you had dozens of posters with pitch forks and torches outside your door acting as if you had been sewing together and animating dead bodies. Its funny how quickly things can change in just a few weeks.

Indeed.

And it is amusing to note how many of the older edition things that 4e seems to be returning to (in terms of art, flat XP for monsters, etc.) that many of those posters disparaged when they came from earlier editions (but now seem perfectly fine, or even excited about!).

Funny how times change. ;)

I love 3.5e. I'm very happy with it and even if I end up getting 4e, I won't give it up.

And despite this, everything I've read seems just like they're trying to improve things. Its not bashing, its just "we don't think this worked well, so we did this..."

What do you expect them to say?

Like memories.

Posting "I don't like the Pokemount" was one of the ways you could get nearly everyone to agree with you, even if people (like me) conceded that the old way was pretty awkward in dungeons and the like, and that class features that don't get used sort of suck by definition.

Yes, you definetly had a whole lot of flamethrowers pointed at you if you posted that you didn't like 3E dependency on magic items, but now that WotC has said that very same dependency is no good everyone has dropped their flamethrowers and started clapping and cheering.

Revisionist history is a beautiful thing. ;)

Notice that all the WOTC D&D people are rabidly enthusiastic about 4E and nary a nay sayer in sight? That doesn't usually happen like that in real life. Ergo - the party line.
You need to work at a company where people are proud of the work they do.

It happens all the time there.

What bizarro world do you post in, and how does your modem also connect you to the regular internet? Your statements here are polar opposites to my experiences.

Dependence on magic items has been one of the most popular, persistent complaints for years.
