The WotC forums are making me feel old

I believe the first appearance of the Glassteel spell was in the D-series of modules. It later reappeared in the Unearthed Arcana.

EDIT: Nerevmind, it was thinking of soemthing else (crystalbrittle maybe...)

I think it appeared in an adventure, not in the core book. I think *cross fingers* it was Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth? I don't have that one anymore so could anyone verify?

Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth was well after the PHB (and it is in the PHB, I walked over and checked).

If it was before the PHB, it was because it appeared in one of the Giant or Drow series. I'm not 100% certain of timelines, but I believe I remember them being availlable before the PHB was released.

When I first found D&D, the only "core book" for AD&D out was the Monster Manual. I picked up the basic set and started with it.

I was thinking it was in the Hall of the Fire Giant King, but that might be Crystalbrittle I was thinking of.

If I remember when I get home, before my game, I will check the module to see which spell it was. Though I don't have the original G3. I only have G1-3.

Diaglo, you are two timezones ahead and I am sure you have the original and probably G1-3 as well. Any chance you will check your library and set us straight if nobody else has by the time you get home?

Didn't Glassteel first appear in AD&D Player's Handbook, or am I wrong (and unintentionally making you feel older, glyfair)?

I remember Keleean, the prince of swords, had two glass steel blades. One bastard sword, one broad sword. Ah, the good old broad sword and it's 2d4/1d6+1 damage. Odd man out.

Haha. So true.

Wait, what was Internet Lesson #1? I musta been sick when that lesson was taught. ;)

Weird, I feel really young right now because y'all are talking about old 1e modules I've never played in...though I have at least HEARD of them.

Lesson #1: Forum members are (usually) human beings with their own language, morals, hurtable feelings, and aspirations. Not taking that into account is what's responsible for 99% of the Internet's bad reputation.

Ahhh. Good lesson. I've definitely seen cases where I wish people could take this lesson a little more to heart.
