There's something about Runepriests.

Runepriest at-wills don't scale at level 21 like the at-wills of any other non-augment class.

On the other hand... them's some FINE at-wills...

...error, or intentional?

Isn't it that every single attack ability the runepriest's have 1[W] + mod damage?

Also some of the at-wills scale, the one that grants vul 2, goes up to 4 then 6 for example.

I'm thinking it was intentional.

I don't have the book yet, but I would think it is intentional just based on the fact that they tried to stretch the game design in new ways in PH3.

There has been much wailoing and gnashing of teeth regarding how psionic at-wills still do only 1[w] or equivalent at epic level. Maybe this is a pattern in the PHB3.

Seeker and Monk at-wills scale up at Epic, though.

Most at-wills in the game have 1[W] + mod damage, and 2[W] + Mod at the level after that.

It's definately hinky.

My favorite at will that came from Dragon (Weapon Master's Strike) also doesn't scale at 21st level and also carries riders on it like the Runepriest's attack. Admittedly the riders don't scale like the runepriest's do, but it seems similar enough that it makes me think rider effects mean no 2W at 21st is intentional. At least that would be my WAG.

I can understand that for the vulnerability one, but the other three don't have riders that are comparable with an extra [W] of damage. Other leaders can have similiar power level riders that scale with a secondary attribute and they get the [W] just fine.

Can I go off on a tangent for a second and ask what the point of the runepriest class is exactly? There's already a pretty decent divine leader, and its design allows for Str-based melee attacks, so why isn't this just a cleric build option? I haven't been following official D&D commentary lately, but surely someone must have posed this question to them.

It seems like a test bed for the flexible rider mechanic. No other class really has the same sort of choose the effect on the fly ability. You can't really bolt the floating features and powers into an existing class.

Makes sense, and at a glance the Striker build (cant remember its name) would have some pretty good damage output.

The ardent, battlemind and psion all got the same treatment.

I thought the Rune priest was looking pretty good. But I guess thats the price of double-buy at wills
