[Thieves' World] Murder at the Vulgar Unicorn

"Heh, when I spoke of breakfast, I didn't necessarily mean food... at least for me. I hope he still has some of that wine from last night available..." Kadramis pulls a shaboozh out of his money belt and cleans it with his shirt in anticipation of Pergrin's return.

He turns and speaks to Dereleth. "As far as infiltrating this gang... do we have time for that? Just how quickly does the Sharda expect us to solve this case?"

Cira laughs softly. "I don't know about you, Kadramis, but the sooner the better for me. I'd rather be persuing my own goals rather than the goals of the authorities."

She moves to sit at the bar, the picture of elegance and grace as she slips her dagger into its sheath while standing. Sliding onto the stool, she sets a coin of her own atop the bar.

Carvar takes a seat with the others and waits for Pegrin to return with the food. He learned long ago to take a meal when he could, especially if it is free. There was many a day that he had to go without.

Sitting back he listens to the others banter back and forth about their next move. Carvar knew that he was out of his element when it comes to investigating a murder. But he expects if they ever find out who was responsible that there may be trouble, and that’s where his skills will come in handy.

OOC: Update coming later tonight. I'm gonna move things along to the warehouse as that seems to be the consensus of the group as the next place to go. If anyone has objections to that course of action, you have all day today to protest. :)

[sblock]Kadramis is fine with going to the warehouse, assuming the group brings him up to speed on their conversation with Pergrin as they eat their free breakfast and he has some wine.[/sblock]

After a brunch of fish stew, hard bread and a bit of spirits, you take your leave of the Vulgar Unicorn and the company of Pegrin. The nice weather of the early morning is still holding, the bright sun pounding down on the dusty streets of the Maze. The breeze off the water is mostly non-existant. Finding your way out of the Maze take only a short time, with only a few wrong turns and dead ends encountered along the way.

Outside the Maze, you follow The Wideway along the waterfront. If Pegrin's directions are correct, the warehouse should be just off The Wideway at the southeastern end of town, close to The Tween. The Wideway is crowded with all sorts of people. Fishermen jostle with merchants and street urchins near the docks, everyone in a hurry to get to where they are going.

As you approach the eastern end of The Wideway, close to The Tween, the foot traffic thins out significantly. A few minutes later, you reach the warehouse. It is a relatively non-descript single-story building. There is a single door facing The Wideway, and presumably other entrances might be on the sides of the building facing the back alleys. There are no windows, at least none facing The Wideway.

"Well, what's next, merry band of suspects?" Kadramis looks around, feeling exposed now that the crowds have thinned out. He continues, more quietly. "If we stand around out here in front of the place we're sure to attract attention. Um... Derleth...? Daeric? Lead the way if you please..."

Derleth turns to his companions and says in a low voice:

"I don't much fancy barging in through the front door do you? I think we should look for a side entrance."

He readies his crossbow, loading a bolt as he heads for one of the back alleys around the side of the warehouse.

Kadramis mumbles to himself... "Tromping right up to the place we're not going to surprise anyone who may have been watching out for trouble, but perhaps there's a back entrance we can force open without attracting undue attention...." He follows Derleth.

Carvar follows Kadramis and Derleth around the warehouse. “And here I thought we just wanted to talk.” He says with a slight smirk tightening his grip on his mace.
