Things the Report button is NOT for

Morrus

Well, that was fun

1) Telling us somebody is wrong. Being wrong is not against the rules.
2) Making snide remarks at moderators.
3) Replying to somebody. Sometimes we get somebody 'replying' to somebody via the report button. They can't see your report.
4) Giving us advice. If we want your advice, we'll ask for it.
5) Objecting to somebody disagreeing with you. People are allowed to disagree with you as long as they are not breaking any rules.
6) Writing your pithy 'finishing remark'. Again, they can't see it.
7) Rules lawyering the moderators.
8) Saying 'he started it'. We're not 8. Also see: whataboutism.
9) More items as they occur to me!

Hope that helps! :)

Serious question: if we disagree with a mod post or action (even one not aimed at ourselves), is the Report button an appropriate way to express that?

Is it not permitted to just message someone (even a moderator) and ask about a ruling? Have we gotten to the point where the first response must be to report to an authority? I'm asking because my autism expresses itself as an inability to properly gauge proper social responses.

Not on this forum but on some other software I was using in the last year the report and reply were side by side and so yeah... I hit the wrong one a few times.

Thank goodness over here report is on the opposite side of the interface. :)

EDIT: Right next to the edit button so the mods here can review all out speilling our spelling mistakes. :D
