Things to do in London when you're dead

Hi there Enworlders - due to the recent breakdown of my relationship, the fact that I miss home and hate my job I'm moving back home to sunny ole New Zealand, land of the long white cloud.

So I've got roughly 1 week left in London, and I'll have about 4 days of no work before I leave.

Enworld Londoners I ask you, what are some of the places or things that I HAVE to see before I go.

I've done a fair few of the really touristy things (ex Westminster Abbey) but I'm wondering, what non-standard places should I see or go to before I leave.

London Eye: Touristy, but worthwhile (unless it's foggy).
Greenwich Market. You can also see the obervatory, and take the Greenwich foot tunnel to the Isle of Dogs.
The museums
The aquarium

The British Museum is easily worth a day.

They've got part of a castle, darn near half of Greece and a bunch of other nifty stuff.
Oh yes - I've beena couple times but I'll be going back. There's no other collection of stlen stuff I'm more in awe of.

The Eglin/Parthenon Marbles and the Rosetta Stone are worth the trip alone.

Of course the Parthenon marbles are that much coler once you've been to the actual Parthenon and seen where they belong.

Eye is definitely on the list, so's the V&A.

Greenwich market sounds fun - I'll try to fit that in.

Cheers all,

Sidekick,

If you're at all interested in arms & armour, you should definitely go to the Wallace Collection. They have one of the best collections of its kind in the world. What's more, it's free. It's located two blocks north of Oxford Street, behind Selfridges.

I second (or is that third?) Greenwich Market. There's a games store there but not one that sells RPGs.

If you're into markets, I recommend Camden Lock on a Saturday. They also have a non-RPG game store, Village Games. The market is a good, if somewhat expensive, source of black T-shirts and sweatshirts with various fantasy designs.

Another must-see place, though it's a bit early in the year right now, is Kew Gardens.

Hope that helps. ;)

If you ever find yourself in Taiwan, try the Taiwan national museum. A large chunk of China's history is there, "rescued" by the KMT when they fled the mainland. But I agree, the British collection is more impressive, but then we did invade more countries :uhoh:
