Third Party D&D Settings

Hi-

I like Oathbound from Bastion Press. It's actually readable IE I'm not bored to tears after thumbing through the first few pages. A very entertaining read indeed.
I like Eberron, but I'm surprised WoTC did not pick up the Oathbound campaign setting for officiel publication.
Anyway, I plan on mixing Eberron, Oathbound, Forgotten Realms, Thieves World and my own homebrew into one big honkin meliu.

Scarred Lands. The mythos behind the setting really grabbed me like nothing has since. I was, honestly, dissappointed that they began adding more and more demigods and lesser gods to the setting. I would much rather have left it to the just the original 8 gods + 1 titan. I have added only a few lesser gods to my campaign (mainly the demi-human ones).

I would put in a recommendation for Freeport. Although smaller in scope it is a very fun place to play in.

Campaign settings are like Lay's potato chips. I can't choose just one. However, if I had to drastically curtail my D20 purchases, the last ones I'd give up would be Freeeport and Wilderlands. If I had money for only one more than that, it would be Midnight.

Only one setting to support? Without a doubt, it would have to be the Iron Kingdoms. I've loved everything put out for it, and I just hope they get new stuff out just a little quicker...

Okay, having gotten some replies on this (thanks all who did) I now reveal which 3rd party unofficial D&D setting I'd support, Iron Kingdoms.

Why?

That's simple, there's a there there. It has a voice and a sense of place. It is a place with a history, a place where things happen, and where things are going to happen.

It is, in short, interesting.

So now you know.

Scarred Lands, hands down. As mentioned before, it is the heaps of flavor and the cohesiveness of it all. It is by far my favorite although I haven't been fortunate enough to play it yet. I would love to run the Serpent Amphora series, but so far haven't been able to sell my group on it.

Bah! Just start it! Sell your group on it? What does that mean? I hope you are still charging them the standard rates for your Gming duties!

I'm a setting junkie...

That being said, if I had to pick one that I have gotten the most use out of, it would be Freeport.

Our group has been playing in that setting for about two years now, and having a total blast. For us it is just the right scope and scale.
