I find it interesting how many of these cities are in the south. I think there's still a perception that people in the north are all tense and uptight while southerners are laid-back. Apparently not.

To be honest, FL isn't really part of the "South".

Good to see Detroit made it to number 3. We've struggled with wounded pride over losing out on the most violent place in America to Camden, NJ a few years ago. We're still pretty high up there, though (#3) with the wonderful juxtaposition of having 4 of the 30 safest cities in the country within a 20 minute drive. Oh, and the D also has the highest flight rate of any major city. In fact, it's not even really a major city anymore.
