This is a good puzzle - except I can't solve it!

See my response to the old lying guardian/ truthful Guardian puzzle is easy.... you ask each guard the same question...

"Is your name Richard Nixon?"

The one who says "no" is your truthful guardian.

Unless you have a truly, truly RBDM who is willing to change NPC names mid-adventure.

And then what?

You've used your one question, so you can't ask the truthful guardian "Is this the safe door?"

You know that there are two doors, one of which is safe, the other of which leads to (dadada-duuuum) Certain Death!... but not which is which.

And you know that this guy always lies, and that guy always tells the truth...

... and you've blown your question already.

How has your question helped you learn which door to open?

First ask: What would you say if I asked you if you were the Knexus?
Knight will say No.
Knave will say Yes.
Knexus will not be able to answer. It's non-deterministic
==========================================

Sorry, but there are two valid responses to the question, "Yes" or "No". Knexus will randomly choose one and that will be its reply.

"... and ask Question 2: Does da mean yes iff Rome is in Italy?"

You'd think someone who could come up with the rest of the solution would realise that that is just the question "Does da mean yes?"

He got a little too caught up in his iffs, I think :)

Never heard anything about one question.... if I only do get one question I don't ask anything... I send a henchman/NPC through a door. If he dies I use the other door.

"There are two guards in a corridor, one guarding a doorway to heaven, the other guarding a doorway to hell. One of the guards will always tell the truth but the other will always lie.
By asking a single question that both the guards answer, find the doorway to heaven."

Like I said... let the Henchman go first.

(What can I say I don't play spellcasters, I have to be practical!!!)
