Have you ever heard of the term, Pro Bono?
States that he looked and can't find any Pro Bono. Did manage to find an old scratched up record album of Sonny Bono, asks Baradtgnome if he will accept that instead.

Continues rant, but bringing up original topic, and then totally switching sides, stating that upon further consideration Baraendur appears to be incorrect. Priases jdavis for his insight.

Tosses out classic question from prior thread "Who would you prefer, Ginger or Mary Ann?" Apologizes for reigniting Gilligan's Island debate. Adds disclaimer "Be nice to me today, it's my birthday."

I think this game mechanic is only "broken" in broken campaigns. So your arguement that the game has broken components is completely false.

So I would challenge that it is not the game that needs fixing but rather how you are playing in it.

The guantlet has been dropped!

But I'll put in a smiley face as well so that other board viewers/users don't think I'm a bad guy :D

Yes the tide is turning. See not everybody that plays D&D has a brain, many are pod people who just point and screetch. These people will abuse that rule because they are plants. The rule isn't broken it's the players are broken. Besides if the brainless pod people are enjoying their broken game who are we to tell them they are stupid and take away what little fun they have in their pitiful existance. Baraendur is most definatly showing a bias against plant based gamers here.

Was Gilligan a pod person or just a pot head?

Remind everybody to post in meta.

Explain that plant based gamers and pot heads are one and the same, and such people will never understand the nature of a broken mechanic unless they have a sudden narcotics induced revelation. Of course such occurrences are normally forgotten a moment of two later when they have a "moment of clarity."

Insist that I don't work pro-bono, especially if doing so means spending any amount of time with Cher.

Mention that Gilligan proved that he is both a gamer and in favor of bad mechanics, and that we all preferred Maryanne.

Plead in a Rodney King whine that we should all just get along while simultanteously making a snyde comment to Jdavis that as a french fry head, his brain matter is made up of slowly decomposing plants, which makes him the poster child for plant people.

Asks for brochures about Tallarn's new religion.

Scratches head and wonders why the hivemind is never this interesting. Enjoys the picture of the gaming scene from E.T.

Reminds Baraendur that the mid-1970's "Sonny Bono Show", after his break-up with Cher, was far worse than than the television variety show that they did together.

Points out that everyone prefers Maryanne, which is one of the reasons that it is silly to even ask the question.

States that a pair of Tallarni missionaries have been dispatched to Baraendur's house to convert him.

SilverMoon appears baffled by this question, as it appears to be the same cast of characters involved.

Attaches picture from the film "Attack of the 50 foot woman" and departs, without having mentioned either the original topic or Gibberlings.

Informs all that since he is leaving for York tomorrow for six weeks, that all commitments are off, null and void, and that he can no longer participate in this thread.

Resigns from anything he has promised to do, but additionally promises to keep an eye on the thread in order to be the sane voice of reason within the madness.

Mentions casually that his MSM screen name yesterday was Wonko the Sane, wonders to self if anyone will get the reference.

Offers to move all of Tallarn's sections of the Gibberlings Project to Volume III, so that there will still be time to complete them after his return from York. In reference to the second question, states that the name should be truly familiar with all readers of Douglas Adams.

Brings original topic up again. States that the rule would also be valid in the D20 Superheroes game "Mutants and Masterminds". Follows up with details of a recent game played using that gamesystem, in which Boston's Fenway Park got destroyed.

Gets into side discussion on the painting of lead miniatures.

Attaches picture from Star Trek: The Next Generation of the officers playing poker. Photoshops the picture to remove cards and dice, substituting dice, miniatures and a DM Screen in front of Lt. Commander Data. Uses the original 1st Edition Screen, putting a red starburst on it that reads "100th Edition - Back to Basics".

I make the statement that a game designer we are all familliar with is absolutely broken! Not only does she designed poorly, but power gamers with certain close relationships have way too easy a time changing massive amounts of minor rule variations against anything they happen to encounter with the use of her game mechanics.

I suggest that this designer was under the influence of intoxicants when creating all her game mechanics, and furthermore suggest that DM's that allow their players to use them are whipped and in that state care nothing for the concept of game balance.

If Baraendur is correct then we should all burn all our d20 material and go back to original boxed D&D. On the other hand if Jdavis is correct we should all go back to 1E. If Silvermoon is correct we should all quit our jobs and join Reverend Gibberling. And if I am correct, well, you should all be very afraid.

Point out that baradtgnome has misquoted me. Don't believe me? Go check out the first post.

If in fact my original statement would have been the one baradtgnome posted, I would have been wrong! Wrong! Wrong! The game designer in question writes absolutely wonderful rules most of the time, and is a charming individual to boot. Point out though that I'm not familliar with her work or know her personally, but that doesn't make my rebuttal any less true.

Wonder how any of this has to do with monkeys, cheese, or hellcows.

SilverMoon States that (1) Barander had better not be correct on this one, as SilverMoon's OD&D set is still wrapped in plastic, and wouldn't be worth as much once opened; (2) Jdavis could be correct, as SilverMoon still has all of his 1E books; (3) There is no point number three; (4) SilverMoon may be correct, but the Reverend Gibberling section for D20 modern has not been written yet. Assigns section to Baradtgnome for bringing it up; (4) SilverMoon states that he is very, very afraid.

In reference to the new Hulk movie, gives a lengthy description of the Hulk comic from the first six 1962 comics, his 43 Tales to Astonish appearances, and the approximate 528 issues of his own comic (both volumes, plus annuals and specials). Comments at length about the work of Lee and David.

Makes a very brief comment about the original topic.

Contemplates selling soul to devil.

Attaches picture from the poker scene in "The Odd Couple", photoshopping out the cards and chips and replacing them with miniatures, dice, and the 3.5E handbook.
