These were beer-battered onion rings, with cayenne pepper and salted when they came fresh out of the fryer ... ooooooo ...

Good lord. Those sound exactly like the ones at Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse. Some of the best onion rings in Houston, IMO. And I've tried a LOT.

I moved to California a year ago. I've been trying to get a game going since my stuff got unpacked (Probably the second day)

A belated welcome to California. I see you're living in "The Nine-Oh-Nine". My parents live out that way in Chino Hills. Lots of space and cheap housing.

Two decent game shops out that way (a bit of a drive, but not too bad). "Pegasus Hobbies" is in Montclair, I think. About a 15 minute drive. "All Star Games" is in Diamond Bar. They carry a lot of stuff but unfortunately they shrink-wrap EVERYTHING (including most hardbacks) so you can't look at something before you buy, which I hate.

I've just joined a new group whose style seems to work. I'll be DMing at my place tomorrow for the first time with these guys. Wish me luck.

Good luck!

I wish the Space Channel would pick it up, but they're moving away from sci-fi programming. What the hey? A sci-fi channel that doesn't want to be pigeonholed as a sci-fi channel.

Actually, the Sci-Fi Channel is going that way, too, citing it as a reason that they didn't pick up "Roswell" and cancelled "Farscape". They're looking for more "paranormal" type shows vs. true "science-fiction" shows. But, they're not very consistent with this strategy, seeing as how they're also producing the "Children of Dune" mini-series.

I'm still preparing for my session tomorrow. At least I can use the computer and printer at work...

Oh and 1 of our cats is quite possibly the dumbest mammal to ever walk the earth.

I have an 11 year old cat who still chases his tail. He has to catch it and try to bite it off before he realizes it's attached to him. And then he falls off the scratching post. If only my boyfriend had paid the extra $5 to get a brain installed.:D

Good luck with the game, nyrf.

Space channel is moving towards fantasy, horror and paranormal shows. At this rate the only sci-fi content will be endless reruns of all the Star Trek series.

We're playing d20 Star Wars on Sunday.

I had this great dream the other night.

I was watching the nightly news. They were telling us about some ancient script they discovered and deciphered, and they were going to read it live.

Then the dream cut to about 10,000 BCE, where some evil shaman had tricked his tribe into performing an ancient rite of great evil. When the ritual was over, some giant, evil creature rose from the waters (like Cthulu) and started killing everyone. It also had a "corrupting" effect; everything around it started turning into little demons just like it.

A D&D adventuring party showed up. The elf shot a few arrows at it; when the arrows did nothing, the Fighter said "Screw this!" and they all ran.

Then it cut back to the present day, and the ancient script was read. The demon appeared and started "corrupting" everything and everyone.

All the time, I was thinking, "Damn, but that's cool!"

Speaking of bedroom color, my wife and I painted ours purple a little while ago. It looks great.

My girlfriend painted ours blue when I was off doing field work all last summer. It was a nice surprise for when I got home!

I'm hooking up with a couple friends in Toronto tomorrow--hoping to hit some of the game stores and play some Buffy and Game of Thrones CCGs and hopefully some Heroclix.

Then it's back into the lab for me, although I've got some prep work for my upcoming 4CTF Supers game, and some stuff to post to the Rogues Gallery forum, too.

Plus, the Sushi place I really, really, really like is open again after the guy went on vacation, so I'll be trying to get some sweet sushi action on Sunday.

Well I'll be out partying in a few hours to celebrate my birthday, and I quite possibly will watch a bit of footy (Aussie Rules, that is). Andromeda is on in twenty minutes or so, might try to catch that before heading out.

Today I get to take a break from my DMing duties and let my Co-DM run his own home-brew while I play a half-orc wannabe paladin! yay!!! Oh, and I get to bug him about when we're gonna play DNW and then bug him into being the GM for it. :D

Gaming tonight in Lord Nightshade's 'Into the Abyss' game. My char just turned 19th level, and I'm oh so excited about hitting '20' for the first time in my playing career.

Alas, poor Trinidad has already died twice, and although this isn't a house rule, I have a personal code which mandates that my characters only get 3 lives, so each combat becomes more terrifying than the last. <gulp>
