Hey, can we get a moderator in here? This guy has a filthy mouth, and needs to be told he can't use that kind of language here!

;)

Yawn. Excuse me, did you say something worth hearing? All the boredom surrounding this Cowboy Bebop wanna be is making me sleepy.

Serenity/Firefly is one of those shows that bugs me as a fan. If someone isn't a fan of D&D, or fantasy novels, or "7 Days" or "John Doe" I say, "no problem, to each his own", and go on. With this series, however, when I see it dying on the vine due to little popularity, I say to myself,

"WHAT THE :):):):) IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!?!

You want Drama? Here's a show that gives drama unparalleled since Hamlet killed his Uncle!

You want Humor? This show has some of the funniest one-liners and warm characters to ever grace a silver or TV screen!

You want Adventure? This show kicks Revenge of the Sith in the junk and takes its wallet!

And yet YOU :):):):):):) :):):):):):) AREN'T WATCHING IT!!!! WHAT ARE YOU, LOBOTOMIZED, YOU DIPSTICKS?!?!!"

And then I take my medication, and it all... becomes.... better....

I'm trying to think if it was here or Newsarama where one Joss fanatic predicted this movie was going to be the smash hit of the year, and out do Sith. That was when I knew that the hardcore J.W. fanboy was unstable. ;)
I've been told by a lot of fans of the show that it feels like a TV movie, even going so far as to call it a good B-movie. And this was by people who liked it.

I may see it eventually, but I think I'm going to see that new flick with Viggo starring next. Wheadon's dialogue annoys me too much for me to get pumped for this. Sorry Henry.

S'alright. It's part of the dialogue that goes on in my fevered little mind... :)

But then, it's always painful to see something that you find great languishing in unappreciation.

I just had a brief image of Summer Glau as Ed, and my brain explodiated...

Hey, what's wrong with using "Vera" and "Gorram Reaver" in a sentence? :D

Agreed.

I loved Serenity. One of my favorite movies this year...but its very, very hard for the fans to accept that, good or not, its still a niche that many people just aren't going to go and see. Insult the other movies all you want, but they may just appeal to a wider audience, meaning more money.

Firefly is no Star Wars. It never will be. Assuming that Serenity will blow everything away on its first day/weekend is just being unrealistic. Sure, the movie will do fine, as the fans will see it again and again(heck, I will) and the DVD will likely do great...maybe even enough to warrant another movie(oh, how I hope), but like it or not, Serenity just is not going to have the impact that Star Wars or Lord of the Rings had.

That would have been a killer opening. Unfortunately it opened at 1/10th that.It did $4610 per theater, while Flightplan did $7,193 per theater. So even comparing (more or less) apples to apples, it didn't do terribly well.

Yeah, I missplaced a zero. Hopeful misplacing. Dang.

87% of professional film critics thought it was a good film. I seriously doubt they consider it a B-movie. And most of these folks don't watch much or any TV (Ebert watches none, for example), so it's not like they're a bunch of Firefly fans.

Doesn't mean you'll like it, or that you have any respect for the opinions of movie critics, but a B-movie isn't going to get that kind of approval.

I'm just going by opinions of people on other forums. A common statment was that it seemed like a TV movie instead of a regular major big screen flick. I can't confirm or deny such things as I haven't seen it.

People say that and I can see it but wide screen makes a big difference, there is more to take in! :)
