This Weekend at the Boxoffice: 2007.May.07

Hand of Evil

Hero
Epic
I don't think it is a surprise Spider-Man is number one at the boxoffice but records were broke! I think it was the weakess of the 3 and it is the pirates life for me, so as I have been saying this is going to be the bumper season at the box!

Note Hot Fuzz, still in the top 10 and has a very good average per show.

Nope, it will be out of that spot in two weeks...Shrek the Third is out on the 18th.

I will have to go with this as well. Spiddy 3 even if it does well will be down to $75 million in two weeks and more likely down to $50 Million (We are still looking at $400 million overall so not bad). Shrek 3 should post $50-$75 opening weekend even if it does badly.

Also note that the number of screens a movie is playing in has an impact on its opening weekend numbers. And with several block busters coming up this summer, more opening screens means fewer screens for movies that have been out a week or two. So that slants things in the favor of the newer movie. Even if only one person sees the new movie on a given screen, it's potentially 200 fewer less people for the older movie if it had filled up all the seats in that theater.

So, who knows :\

this is a summer where I think a 'season pass' would be a good thing.

I'd love to see some of these movies a few times, but I'm not going to because I want to save my money for X movie....where X is all these great movies.
