Okay, it is now time to think that The Dark Knight MAY knock off Titanic, yep I said it, it is the boxoffice number one. Sure the market has changed but The Dark Knight has that feeling about it...can it maintain its power!

The Dark Knight - 17-Day Total: $394,887,000
Domestic: $394,887,000 (66.1%) + Foreign: $202,500,000 (33.9%) = Worldwide: $597,387,000

Titanic - 17-Day Total: $157,467,971
Domestic: $600,788,188 (32.6%) + Foreign: $1,242,091,767 (67.4%) = Worldwide: $1,842,879,955

And "Space Chimps" is still in the top ten! Go figure!

On a related note to summer movies, I was walking through the Mall the other day and was surprised to see that Cinnabon still had their "Love Guru" tie-in promotion up.

While that may be the case it means less when it is knocking stuff off from 10 years ago. Same year or previous year figures are fine for comparison, but not that far in the past. As far as I am concerned, in order to compete for top grossing one has to look at the numbers adjusted for inflation. Until in breaks a billion plus, Star Wars will remain the top grossing movie.

Interesting that Wall-E is still in the Top 10, considering how long it has been out. Seen it twice with the gf. My mom wants to see it too, we'll be hitting the local Harkins today.

Gone with the Wind is number 1 by inflation adjusted $$s ;)
