Thoughts on my 30th birthday

So here I am crossing the threshold into the 30s. I've been warned that 30 is tougher than other birthdays while other folks claim that 30 is nothing and 40 is the worst. After waking up this morning, going to work, and then coming home to do some freelance writing (pretty much like every other rainy Saturday), I have to admit that 30 isn't so bad. :)

Do I feel older? Nah. And do you know what I attribute this young feeling to? D&D. That's right; whether it's coming up with new adventure ideas for my home campaign, new ideas for d20 writing, or just visiting these and other gaming related forums, it is always D&D and roleplaying in general that's keeps me feeling like a teenager. So here's to you, ENWorld. Thanks for keeping my inner teen alive!

Bah! These freelance kids today...with their fancy d20 and O.G.C.

30? Hah! When I was 30 we had one company making D&D and we LIKED it!

When I was 30 were still paying under $2 for gas!

Dang kids...

(Oh, and Happy Birthday, Bret! ;) )

For me turning 30 was easier than turning 40, but then 40 turned out to be one of the best years of my life. It's not the number of pages on your life calendar, it's how cool the pictures are that you put on each page.

You guys are so positive. Turning 30 for me was horrible. I hated leaving the realm of the twenty somethings. Now that I'm 32, I've accepted the fact that my best days are beyond me. I'm dreading 40 already though.

Whatever makes you think your best days are behind you? My best years have come since I hit 40 and I don't see the future being any less bright than the present. I'm really looking forward to the next 15-20 years.

(Sorry if I sound preachy.)

Happy Belated B-Day Napftor.

Got to admit the 30's can be tough as life seems to just keep getting more complex and demanding, but maybe the 40's will be better - less than a week now till 39 years down for me.

My brother had a really rough 30th. As he said, "I always thought that by the time I turned thirty I would not only have figured out what I want to do with my life, I'd have already been doing it!" :p

Silly brother.
