Does that mean if the party is horribly optimized and badly played, they should get more for defeating a CR8 encounter?

If a party is so poorly built that they make Redgar, Jozan, Kerwin and Hennet look optimized, they probably won't even live to see a CR8 encounter, so it behooves the campaign for the DM ro reevaluate CR's as well. Especially for MM3 - MM5 monsters since a lot of those seem CR'ed to take Power Creep into account.

But if i wasn't clear enough in my first post, IMNSHO a group of bean counters don't deserve to earn XP easier just because they number crunched and cherry picked feats, items and PRCs.
