Thri-Kreen with a +1 LA?

Here's my question. My player wants to play a Thri-Kreen monk very badly. He's done his homework, too. We're playing 3.5 currently, and in the Expanded Psionics Handbook, a thri-kreen has 2 racial HD and a +2 LA. Now, in the Savage Species book (3.0), a thri-kreen has 2 racial HD and a +1 LA. (Or a +3 LA with psionics.) In the Savage Species version, the thri-kreen also lacks the psi-like powers that it does in the EPH and has a few other minor changes - too many to list here.

So here's my question. Would it be feasible to modify the existing EPH thri-kreen to a +1 LA instead of a +2 LA, and how would you go about doing it? Remove the psionic abilities, or do more than that?

I'm sorry I have no help on your actual question, but make sure your player (and you) gets the rules on thri-kreen monks directly from Patryn.

Expect the monk to be a good jumper... +30 to jump checks will do that.

Yes, but the difference between the Savage Species thri-kreen and the EPH one is that the EPH one is still limited by its height in terms of jumping, while the SS one was not. X_X

I was under the impression that the limited-by-height rule for jumping was removed in 3.5 entirely.

Sejs, I'll check that when I get back home. And, yes, the EPH is 3.5 - I'm seeking advice on how to modify the EPH thri-kreen to a +1 LA instead of a +2 LA, or if such a thing is even possible. (The player suggested removing its psi-like abilities as an option.)

Lesser Thri-Kreen ... I would let it slide as 2 racial hit dice +1 LA with no psi-like abilities, replace deflect arrows and innate power points with Wild Talent (bonus feat)
Though dropping the poison would be reccomended and possibly bite attack too.
(with a +1 LA, this would have an ECL of class levels +3)

what level is the game set at?
