Thunder... thunder... thunder... Thundercats! Ho!

Announced this week at San Diego Comic Con by Dynamite Entertainment and Lynnvander Studios is an official TTRPG featuring the adventures of Lion-O and his fellow Thundercats as they struggle against the evil machinations of Mumm-Ra.

A 250-page rulebook will cover Thundercats lore, characters from the cartoon show and the comic-books, and, of course, the rules of the game. Lion-O, Cheetara, Tygra, Panthro, Pumyra, Mumm-Ra and more will feature in a game which is heading to retail 'soon'. You can build your own heroes to join the Thundercats--or, indeed, the Mutants.

There's no release date or system details yet, but we'll keep you updated when we hear more.

Hear the magic! Hear the roar! Thundercats are loose!

I'm not completely surprised by this given the Transformers and GI Joe games released in recent years. It's a more appropriate choice for the subject of an RPG than Deathstalker at least. I did not expect PCs to be able to join the Mutants though. That's a surprise.

Lynnvander Studios publishes the 5e setting Ilmaria.

I wonder if we could see some elements from the cancelled remake/reboot. How had the plot been continued?

Hasbro has got several forgotten IPs. Why not to use D&D to give a second opportunity? Visionaries: knights of the magical light, inhumanoids, Robotix, Jem and the Holograms: the bardcore isekai.

It was a few years ago, but a friend of mine ran a He Man/Thundercats crossover adventure with strong Cthuhlu overtones. It was 5E and a BLAST. Thundercats would be easy to do in a variety of systems, so I think this could be a lot of fun.
