admittedly, i haven't been following the 4e news terribly closely, so i apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere.

tieflings will be a playable race in 4e. the good counterpart to evil tieflings are aasimar. so why aren't aasimar in 4e? are eladrins the race to fill that role?

It appears that Tieflings will be different in 4e being a race that breeds true and the whole consorting with demons thing is way back in the race's ancestry. Being a player race, I don't think they will be evil in such a way that there needs to be a "good" counterpart.

It appears the Eladrin are the magic-loving version of the elves living in cities, while the Elves are going back to their more natural forest roots (pun intended).

What Thornir said.
4E Tieflings are humans whos very ancient ancestor somehow made a deal or even stole powers from devils to infuse themselves with a tiny pit of demonic power and since then they weren't humans anymore but a different race called Tieflings.

feh.

i guess having tieflings but not aasimar feels to me like something is missing... :\

thanx for the responses, folks.
