Tiers - The Other Kind of Tiers

Arent tiers sort of obsolete? Fighter 5 - Extra attack. With crossbow expert, you get three shots per turn (average 48 damage a round) - five with an Action Surge (80 damage) and that is not counting your potential 5d8 Superiority dice which you may need to use to hit but if you can someone in the party to make sure you hit or a creature with low AC and tonnes of hit points you can machine gun that's an extra 20 damage (that's 100 damage in a single round assuming you roll average but everything hits)

When it comes to damage that's great. Fighter's don't really offer anything besides combat though and it takes some very specific builds and choices for them to really shine at combat.
