Ties that Bind - Citadel Adbar - Chapter 1 "The best defense is a good offense..."

Helping the Dwarf into a sitting position, the older Dwarf sighed and thumped him on the chest with his knuckles, a sign that a lesson had been given just now. "I changed me mind; beer's on me."

The dwarf is both angry at himself for losing so badly and thankful to Bruggin for healing his wounds after the fight. He accompanies Bruggin to a tavern and insists on buying the ale.

Then she says, more friendly:So, unless you really know what you are doing, you should better leave them alone."
She pauses to see the reaction of the dwarf, but is still alert to her surroundings.

The young dwarf almost blushes (or as close as dwarves can come to doing so), as he realizes his mistake. He doesn't say anything, but looks down in shame, clearly regretting his decision to make trouble in the first place.

OOC:
[sblock]I don't mind RP at all, as it helps me get to know your characters, but keep in mind that it can be done equally well (and with a better opportunity for everyone), once the party is together. Just a friendly nudge from the GM...[/sblock]

Bruggin nodded, and carefully looped the leather thongs at the ends of each of his weapon's handles into his belt, tying them loosely as he walked.

Loosely... Well, one could never be too ready for trouble.

Upon arriving at the tavern, Bruggin settled down for an evening of beer and boasting, as any good soldier priest ought to... though if the guard tries to pay for the beers after number One, Bruggin insists on paying from there.

Almost smiling and not even holding him any more she says:Look, what do you think about a little deal between us two thieves...while producing 2 gold pieces from her pouches, do you know what an informant is? It's a person who knows a certain place well and the people there and sells interesting informations.
Don't worry, I don't want you to betray your home and family.
I only need your opinion of Harbromm and the Iron Guards, what you think of them. They want me to go do a job for them, but before risking my life I'd like to know: do you think they are upright and true to their word. Are they nice people? Do the dwarves that live here like them?
Do you think you can tell me that or do you think this would not be loyal to your family and home?

[sblock=OOC]Don't worry the character only wanted this little piece of info... nice opportunity, I couldn't pass on it :)
she'll give the 2 gold pieces to the little one, no matter what.
If he asks her about tricks of the trade she'll say enough to boost his knowledge and training a fair bit, but without giving away what she really is.
After that, she'll go back to her room and get her needed hours of sleep.[/sblock]

Grateful that he isn't being turned over to the guards or worse, and almost speechless at the sight of two gold pieces (he's probably not ever held that much at one time before), the dwarf is more than happy to share his opinion.

"No miss, don't worry, I don't have ta betray no one to answer those questions. Mind I don't know Harbromm myself, but people are always talking about him and I overhear a lot. Most in the Citadel say he's honest and always true to his word. I wouldn't say the dwarves around here like him though, cause most people don't describe him as bein overly friendly. If the stories are true, he's got a fiece temper. Most respect him though and not many complain about his decisions as king.

The guards aren't particularly mean, but I've had to avoid them several times cause of my line of work. They are harsh to criminals when they catch them though. Sometimes they demand drinks and the like for free when the visit the taverns, but no one seems to minds too much."

[sblock=Yorlii]Make a WIS check.[/sblock]

[sblock=Yorlii]The young dwarf seems perfectly sincerce, but Yorlii's intuition reminds her that even a tyrannt can convince the people he governs that he is a good leader. She has no reason to think this of Harbromm, but hearing from a street thief that the government makes fine decisions and has the support of the people is something to take with a grain of salt.[/sblock]

[sblock=gabrion]give the length of my reply I'll post it in the OOC thread, that's where I think it belongs...[/sblock]

Yorlii replies:Interesting..., thank you. Another little advice, be carefull when you show that much money at once. When people think you are not rich enough for owning this amount rightfully, you can end up in jail really fast.
After a few heartbeats she adds with a wink: Well, I'll be on my way... if you happen to ...stumble... onto any other information you consider interesting for me, come and find me. If it's indeed interesting you'll get some money, even if it's most probably not as much as you got today, as you can understand. Ok?

Bruggin swallowed rapidly, draining his third mug of the evening. Wiping his lips brusquely with the back of his left hand, the Dwarf belched, patting... err, well, the guard on the shoulder and laughing aloud.

"Did ye ever hear aboot the time I slew five hill giants all by meself? Hoo aye, 'twas a viscious and messeh thing, that was!" Banging a fist on the table, he hefted his tankard, empty though it was. "Anothah round fer meself and me guardsman hearty!" Bruggin was hoping that some nearby persons would be interested in hearing about the single handed defeat of five giants; few things started up a good old fashioned contest of battleboasting better than Bruggin's giant slaying tales.

"Yes of course, I'll keep my eye out for anything interstin. I'll come straight lookin for ya if I do find anything valuable infermation."

With that the little dwarf runs off, but Yorlii is quite sure she's made at least one contact in the Citadel. Sure he wasn't well conected enough to inform her of poltical manuvering and the like, but sometimes a gully rat can find gems of knowledge others overlook...

When she returns to the Inn, most is as it was when she left, but there are a couple of dwarves and one of them is making loud boasts about heroic deeds and the like. The other dwarf, who she recognises as Gotreg Brunsmith (the one who told her about the job earlier), is listening to the tales while drinking his mug of ale.
