Man...

All this 4e talk... At first I was thinking, man 3.5 just came out... But then I started thinking about how much stuff has changed in my life since the start of 3.5 and the start of 3.0...

Some stuff for me...

I'm engaged now, and will probably be married around the time 4e actually debuts..

I moved to California, then moved back to Jersey, then back to California...

I've been through about 4 Jobs?

I lost a bunch of weight...

I got a new car...

I'm in a way almost a totaly different person then I was when 3.0 came out...

How about you all? What's changed in your own lives in the span of an edition?

I hear ya.

Before 3E, I was a bitter, somewhat lonely young man and living in a dorm at a university I violently disliked.

Nowdays I'm married and have been for more than a year (after a long relationship), have a good job that enjoy (mostly), rent my own flat in inner London and, well, I'm still kinda bitter, but some things never change ;)

Before 3rd Edition I was at school doing my GCSEs. Since then I've done A-Levels, got to University, completed a BA, then a masters, now I'm a year into a PhD. I was single then, haven't been at various points, but am right now, so I guess that hasn't changed. I do live somewhere else now, but that's just growing up ;)

I'm in a new relationship.

I left France to live in Canada... and from there, pretty much EVERYTHING changed in my life.

So yeah, man. I hear you.

Since 3rd edition has come out, I have changed jobs a few times, and moved a similar number of times.

On a broader basis, I think that as long as D&D holds back on new editions keeping the time frame like that of new video game consoles, I do not see the problem.

Unrelated: Welcome to Canada Odhanan.

"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like bananas."

I actually used time flies as a monster, once... along with forget-me-gnats. :D

Let's see, when 3E was released in 2000 I was barely out of university; I'm now a Chartered Accountant running the tax department of a small firm, after working at two others.

In 2000 I had been married less than a year, now I've got two kids (nearly 6 and nearly 3).

I've lost several family members; a grandmother, a beloved aunt. My parents are divorced now, as is my sister (who remarried); all since 2000.

I feel like I was still a kid back then, despite my age. Now I'm far too old for that.

Time really does fly. Sniffle.

Let's see.... in 2000:

I was single, poor and working check-to-check in a new job. And very excited about trying the new version of D&D, running the first of three Freeport Modules.

Now, I am well into 6 figures of income, married, child on the way, new big home, in a great new position I worked very hard to achieve at a company I love. And very excited about trying the new version of D&D, running a converted Pathfinder campaign.

:)

cool...
