Good idea: Staking the vampire while it sleeps during the daytime.
Bad idea: Waiting until five minutes before sundown to go stake the vampire (which inevitably happens in every vampire movie).

Bad idea: The side effect of said spell sends them at your fellow party members.

Good Idea: Borrow the mage's hooded lantern when you need to explore a shallow cave.

Bad Idea: Try to set something on fire from the continual flame that the mage used in the lantern.

The above happened in a game where I was the mage in question, the player was not amused. Yes, there was oil in the lamp, just no fire. Need oil if you ever get hit by a Dispel Magic.
