Right before he was sent off to the pound, P-kitty decided to find out what people taste like.

"Hey, kid...they're about to put me down, but I want you to have this Green Lantern ring I found in a cereal box after I mauled little Jimmy."

And thus he broke out of the pound and began to fight crime and general not-niceness as...*insert synonym for green* Kitty!...until the ring exploded when he first tried to use it, dousing him is green dye instead of a force field. Thus he learned never to trust cats he meets in prison.

Somewhere along the line he met up with some corsairs who cleaned him up and added them to their crew. Pirates ain't so bad after all....
