Tiny preview for Scarrport: City of Secrets

Here's a little preview. Matthew J. Hansen created this little bugger.

The Clockwork Soldier:
The finally crafted soldier bears intricate engravings. While the constant tick betrays its clockwork heart, the automaton’s motions are so fluid it appears alive.

Clockwork Soldier Level 8 Soldier
Medium Natural Animate (Construct) XP 350
Initiative +6 Senses Perception +5
HP 91; Bloodied 45
AC 24; Fortitude 22, Reflex 19, Will 16;
Immune disease, poison, Resist 5 psychic
Speed 5

m Bastard Sword (standard; at-will) • Weapon
+15 vs. AC; 1d10 + 5 damage and the target is marked until the end of clockwork soldier’s next turn.

C Spinning Slash (standard; recharge [4] [5] [6]) • Weapon
Requires sword; close burst 1; +15 vs. AC; 2d10 + 5 and push target 1 square and target is knocked prone.

Slip Cog
If a clockwork soldier rolls a natural 1 on any d20 roll, it is dazed until the end of its next turn.

Alignment Unaligned Languages Common
Str 20 (+8) Dex 15 (+6) Wis 8 (+3)
Con 19 (+7) Int 4 (+1) Cha 1 (–1)

Clockwork Soldier Tactics
Clockwork soldiers are capable of slightly more advanced tactics than either windup guards or waddling bombs. Clockwork soldiers avoid hazardous terrain and attacks of opportunity, and take advantage of flanking positions.

-------------------------

And here's a little somethin' I cooked up. I'm not sure about the wording on the encounter power, though. feedback is appreciated.

Gremlin super-sight goggles Level 17
These bulbous goggles come with three different lenses that change when the wear turns a knob.
Item Slot: Head 65,000
Technological Item
Property: Gain Lowlight and Darkvision.
Power (Encounter) Immediate Interrupt. You can use this power when you are attacked by a power that causes blindness. You are immune to the effects of blindness until your next turn.

Nice Avatar ;)

Things are going well. I've put in my final art order. We're still tweaking some stuff.

Thanks, I like my avatar too.

Do you think the book is going to be out on time, or is i going to be delayed? If it is delayed (which would be understandable) do you have an estimate of when it might be out?

I really like the clockwork soldier, I hope you have even higher level clockwork creatures. What's the highest level clockwork creature you have?

As for the goggles, I think you might want to specify if its the begining or the end of your next turn.

We're on schedule to have it come out right around the beginning of April.

The highest one we have is 21st level, called the Clockwork destroyer.

I'm working on a spider-like mount as well, that has a pounce attack and an acid bite. I'm thinking it'll be around 11th level.

I have a bunch of ideas, but I can't fit them all into this book, which leads me to believe a supplement for these things is in order.

very very nice, is the spider like mount a mechanical spider like creature or organic? I agree I'd love to see a clockwork creature supplement, maybe a monster maneul like book for all creatures clockwork.

It's a mechanical spider.

I'm thinking It'll probably be large size, have some basic climbing ability (or maybe it just jumps), and a nifty pounce/bite attack as an encounter power.

So, I'm really interested in the concept of auras and how to apply them to a construct as features built into the creature.

In the case of this monster, called the Clockwork behemoth, I've created something called a Bladestorm Aura. The idea is that, once activated, the behemoth has a "defense system" consisting of 8 blades which revolve around the automaton at very high speeds, sort of like a chain saw. Anyone caught in it takes damage.

This is what it looks like so far. Feedback is appreciated:

Bladestorm Aura (weapon) aura 1; The clock work behemoth has a defense system consisting of eight jagged blades which revolve around the creature at high speeds. Anyone caught in the bladestorm aura at the start of their turn takes 10 weapon damage.

this is good and bad...first GREAT meachanic, second, the bad...please tell me this isn't how it would be written up...

if you look the arua in the stat block should have as little flavor as possible, the pic and flavor text should be enough...(I really am looking forward to a pic of this...

this should be the in the know/lore secotion, and again be shown in an awsome pic...

Bladestorm Aura (weapon) aura 1; Anyone who starts their turn with in the bladestorm aura takes 10 weapon damage.
should be in the stat block....

and yes I am being nit pickey here...but only becuse that little nit pick is the only thing needed.

as far as just suggastion, I see these blades having a bunch of force whipping at speed, I would, if this were my new toy, add a push 1 effect to it, makeing it a great defence, it damages and pushes you 1 sq....

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

No, I'm streamlining the aura text. I left it in to remind myself of how I wanted it to work.

The idea of it pushing you one square in addition to damage is cool. I'm not sure how it'll work with another feature I'm designing into the creature that has this aura, so we'll have to see.

thanks again. I really appreciate it.
