Titans: 101

In my group, we all switch up DMing whenever one person finishes- and I'm going to be DMing the first adventure. As a result, I have a bit of liberty in incorporating my character into the rest of the world, as I'll be setting down the first ley lines of the story.

As a result, I decided to possibly have my character BE a Titan- at least, sort of. You see, I've decided to borrow a little bit of stuff from C. S. Lewis' book The Magician's Nephew (from the Chronicles of Narnia) for my character concept & part of the first adventure. In the book, two little kids are given magical rings that, when worn, take them to other worlds. One of the worlds they go to is an ancient, desolate, war-torn world where everyone, save for one person, was killed centuries ago when that one person (the empress Jadis, who later becomes the White Witch in the later books) spoke the Deplorable Word, a word capable of killing everyone in the world except the one who spoke it. After killing everybody, she froze herself in time, waiting for someone to come to her world and free her, with hopes of going back to her rescuers' world and taking it over. She is said to have some giant blood in her, and, as a result, she's very tall, very strong, and her appearance is very commanding.

My idea for my character was that long, long, long ago, my character was a ruler of a powerful nation on this world, of which Jadis (I may change her name) was part. My character was very powerful, physically and magically, and had all sorts of riches, not the least of which was his powerful and magical hammer. Jadis, however, seeking to destroy her enemies and/or just wreak havoc on the world, spoke the deplorable word and killed everybody. Well, not everybody- my character (and possibly others), rather than being killed, was merely frozen in time by the effect (or he was frozen beforehand; I haven't quite decided that) and was left somewhere in his palace. Being found thousands of years later, and awoken by whatever means I decide on, he finds that his nation and his riches are mostly destroyed, and through the passage of time, even the majority of his own power has diminished, leaving him as a 3rd-level character. All of the powerful magic items he had when frozen (including that hammer of his) have either lost their magic completely, or are extremely weak versions of their former glory. I'd figure out what I'm doing from there.

Any ideas on the execution of this sort of an adventure, and/or any character development or roleplaying tips?

Kewl - I had forgotten all about Jadis and the Deplorable world (I read Magicians Nephew about 20 yrs ago and actually used something like the Deplorable Word in my first Homebrew World)

I'd say keep Jadis as the BBEG of your game and make her a Titan (the name probably is obscure enough to be used and a good tie in for those who pick up that your BBEG is in fact the White Witch of Narnia) also the War of Titans (the Greek ones) could have been the battle Jadis ended!

Perhaps your character was a Prisoner her her palace when she invoked the Deplorable Word and was inexplicably saved by the same aura that protected Jadis, now you have both been awaken and pulled through to the campaign world.

I'd have your character without memory of those prior events and to slowly get flashbacks of a previous existence and of the current BBEG being involved. The sights of horror and helplessness which haunt your dreams are gradual driving you crazy but also explain why you seem to be developing wonderous powers (ie your power is returning and you are channeling these through your hammer).

The uberplot could be to
1. Stop Jadis (and thus get revenge)
2. Find other survivng Titans (or Titan artifacts of Power)
3. Return 'home' and rebuild Titan World

Your campaign could involve travelling to different worlds (including Narnia) where different manifestations of Jadis hold sway (hey perhaps even Aslan was a Titan!)

I know you specified online resources about titans, but if you get the chance, you might want to pick up Mongoose's Slayer's Guide to Titans. It was a pretty good read, as I recall, and probably has much of what you're looking for.

Alright... I'll check it out (I've definitely got enough time before I have to start the campaign). Thanks.
