Titans of Twink Assemble! Raising Save DCs...

Eldren

First Post
Looking for some assistance in getting the save DCs for my Druid up as high as they can manage to go. Preferably item-based or feat-based. Any help (with rulebook references so I can show unusual things to my Dungeon Master for his approval) would be greatly appreciated. We're using 3.5, if it helps.

Careful planning of your spells is among the most effective methods. I've designed a Human/Strong Heart Halfling Sorcerer that by 16th level, assuming a 18 Charisma to start, all 4 ability points going in to Charisma and just a +6 cloak of charisma (something a 16th level character should be able to have acquired) can have his save DC's be 30+ spell Level.

Spell Casting Prodigy, Bloodline of Fire, Elemental Savant (Fire), Greater Spell Focus (Evocation), Energy Substitution (Fire) and all spells are Fire Evocation spells or are spells that are harmless/dont have a save.

Fireball spells have a DC of 33. Its the best I've been ever able to pull off without going into epic abilities. Spellcasting Prodigy and Bloodline of Fire are both feats from the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting. Almost every caster I take has spellcasting prodigy

Too bad that in the updated 3.5 version of Spellcasting Prodigy it doesnt' affect saves eh? It says so in the short description which is a copy and paste error. The actual feat in the updated book does not boost your save DC; it only allows for more spells per day due to higher ability score.

Player's Guide to Faerûn has updated these to 3.5 - no higher save DC anymore.

Elemental Savant also doesn't fit into the 3.5 framework, it'll surely be changed according to the other spell power abilities in the upcoming Complete Arcane.

I think the Red Wizard Tattoo Focus feat does still grant a save DC increase.

That sounds like a nice setup, honestly. If you wouldn't mind, let me know about the specifics of how you got your save DCs to 30+spell level. That would be useful to me. :) Most of the damage my Druid is going to deal is going to be through direct-damage spells and summoned creatures fighting for him. He's going to continuously hang back in shadow dragon form (useful for the high Armor Class) and try not to get too involved in the fight. :)

When you mention 30+spell level, are you only talking fire spells, or is that the standard for all your spells? As it stands right now, I can say that of the 7 feats my human Druid will have (he's walking around with a Wisdom of 27 beause of his Periapt of Wisdom +6), some of them are taken up with "Dragon Wildshape", "Spell Focus: Conjuration", "Augment Summoning" and "Energy Substitution: Sonic". That only leaves me three feats to dink around with. I'm going to have to choose them carefully. :) I'm likely to take "Fast Wildshape" as one of those, just so I can shift into dragon shape as a move action and then maybe either get off a spell or get up a defensive enchantment of some sort. Either that, or perhaps shift into the proper form and then cast Animal Growth on myself if I need to get involved in direct melee. So that brings us down to two feats I have to play with.

Uuuum, you have 2 available feat slots, and you need the help of the Enworld community to figure which they'll be? :)
On a WILD( ;) ) guess,I'd say SF and GSF Evocation. On the other hand,I'd advice you to not bother.Smart targeting and a nice Wisdom can make any spell get through.Do NOT target the big, burly barbarian,or the sneaky guy with the daggers with a Flame Strike.Go after the fancy-gesturing,robed guy,and watch as he's turned to a burning puddle, failed save or not.Use spells that do not have saving throws.I think Produce Flame doesn't have one,and neither does Fire Seeds.Use Summons(like duh!).In the Player's Guide to Faerun, there is a nifty feat called Initiate of Nature that gives you a specialised set of spells, including a sweet 1d6/level,no ST,ranged touch spell, whose name eludes me at the moment. That would be handy,if you play in the FR.

You can scrap that, he's using tons of 3.0 stuff, that doesn't work like that anymore. ;)
