Titans - Surprisingly Good if a bit uneven

Hussar

Legend
This just popped up in my Netflix queue so, over the weekend, my daughter and I binge watched the Titans series. Much, much better than I was expecting. Story was cool. Very good writing and the action was well done.

I'm impressed.

One thing though, I was expecting a 10 series Netflix pacing. It's not. it's a 20 episode season cut in two and spread over two years. Which means that the pacing is a bit slower than I expected.

I was a big critic of the trailers but, while I still think Starfires fur coat is ugly, I really liked the core story of Titans - the whole Raven arc and the coming together of the 'team'. The violence did at times seem a bit excessive and I would have liked to see more of the Nuclear Family and discover a bit more about the organisation behind them. Perhaps we'll see that next season.

Speaking of which I did find the end to be abrupt, I didnt think theyd bring in the big bad until next season, although I do appreciate that he did tie-in well to the 'Batman' appearance, and mid season hiatuses seem to have become the norm now - so I'm looking forward to see what happens after the break

I didnt like that every second episode diverted off into mini pilots for other shows - Hawk and Dove, Doom Patrol, Diana Troy and the Nightwing show. The episodes themselves were fine but really if they wanted a Nightwing show they should have done that first, otherwise involve the other characters somehow rather than just focussing on Dick

I also found it to be surprisingly good. It's hitting the notes of the comic series, without precisely duplicating them. It seems to up-age far better than Archie Comics do.
lowkey13 - They drop the occasional F-bomb and there's a fair bit of blood. Unlike in comic books in this series, when someone with super strength punches you in the face, you spit out teeth. People die.

Um ....

Anyway, Hussar and Tonguez, I am a sucker for there DC Universe shows, and I didn't know this had released on Netflix (thanks!).

How is the maturity level for teens (say, a mature 12 year old)?

I watched with my 14 year old, but, not my 12 year old. There's a few sexy bits, not too bad and the violence is pretty graphic.

yes Mr Grayson is a bit of a ladies man :)

but yeah the F-bombs and violence would be the only two things which stand out as PG 13+, I actually found it more jarring in Titans than I did in the Logan movie, although that may just be due to expectation of TV

Based on this post I just looked for this on Netflix and it's not available. Wonder if it's country specific - I'm in the US.
