To Catch a Crimelord, or Down the Rabbit Hole (garyh judging)

Kruk smirks at the comments of the leader. "Hmmmf...I have never heard of one of my kind that would do such a thing. They are not true dwarfs. I'll give them a taste of my axe to let them know how I feel about it." He bows his head as a sign of respect. With his head down he gets a glimpse of Carolina greedily eyeing the gems. "Be Crom's beard Carolina, how much is there!...not that I reaally care or anything..." Kruk whispers to her, eagerly waiting for her reply.

Lily glanced around at the others with a worried look, the chief's words lending credence to her dismal thought. As the conversation continued to focus on the strange dwarves she tried to concentrate on that, and put the other thoughts out of her mind.

Um...how long have your people and the dwarves been dwelling near each other? Have they ever made demands before?

"We've always lived in their shadow for as long as any of us have known. Even the elders said they can't remember anything else. We give them tributes, but in golds or gems or game, but never people. We cannot fight them, we cannot run either, there are more scarier things here than dwarves. Even ones that wants peoples." the barbarian replies.

"Seeking an end to tribute in slaves is a worthy goal, but we still have a 'Mr. X' to find. That portal did come here from his basement, and whether Chief Kniva's men saw him or not he must have come through it."

Grim pauses to consider the options.

"However, 'Mr. X' would undoubtedly go in search of criminals once chased from his hideaway, and we know at least one dwarf worked for him in the past. Kruk, didn't you mention something about dwarven stonework in the portal room? Let's go meet these mysterious dwarves."

Kruk cringes at Grim's question. Come on Kruk, stop look'n at the gems and concentrate on the task at hand! "Yes, Grim, that is correct, although I don't know much about them. I did hear stories when I was a lad that cities in the Valley of the Bone are said to be made of gold. Hmmmf, I'll believe that when I see it."

"You did say that you might have information for us. Have truly no others come through those stones? Do you know of any other such places? It may be enough that you know of any with strange magic seen in the lands. Georg remembers the shadow magic and dwarf with the strange fighting technique.

"You say you looking for someone, yes? Maybe you tell me about what you look for and I helps you. Nobody I see come through." Chief Kniva replies.

Georg describes the four they faced in the warehouse, especially the symbol of the eye from the armor of one human. He hopes that there is some information here, but also seems curious about the dwarves.

[sblock=OOC]Perhaps we can move along with the plot renau1g has developed rather than find IC justification. We are adventurer's afterall!

The chief's face furrows as you speak and his face darkens further as you mention the human with the dark powers. "There are rumours that dark ones have been growing in power around here. Hmmmm....them and the dwarf's at the same time. The dark ones have been taking eyes from the ones they catch alone on the road." Chief Kniva replies, "Maybe the one you seek is with the dark ones?"
