The group boldly leaps into the portal and as each member enters the blue light, they disappear with a bright flash. As you enter the portal you feel a tugging on your very essence and your body elongates, contracts, and is moved in a variety of ways. Oddly though far from feeling any negative effects you feel rejuvenated from the journey. After an indeterminate amount of time, you are standing behind a rock circle, with a glowing sphere in the center. Visible outside of the circle is that same semi-permanent village you saw in the portal. You notice a group of riders heading in your direction.

Carolina notices the small mark on the back of her hand. "What the..." but she is cut short at the appearance of the riders. She quickly draws up her crossbow and tries to take cover behind a rock.

[sblock=OOC]Assuming the rocks are big enough to hide a halfling. Otherwise she'll use a bugbear.[/sblock]

Eep! Someone's coming!

Lily looked around for somewhere to hide.

How far off are the riders, do they seem to have spotted us? How big is the village we're in? Are there any obvious signs that any lives there?

"Aye, who might these riders be?" Kruk scans the area and braces himself for another battle, shield up and axe ready.

ooc: scanning the area for anything that might give us advantage for battle. 1d20+3=19

Raiyek and Kruk realize there are 3 riders, seeming to head in this direction directly from the large town. The town looks to have people milling about and seems like it's a decent size. Carolina bravely dives behind a large rock.

Why does everyone assume it has to be a battle

I'll post a larger update tomorrow.

XP approved!

Deciding to take the initiative instead of waiting to see the riders' intentions, Raiyek calls out to them. "Hail, riders! We mean you and this town no harm. But speaking of this town, can you tell us where we are?"

So is our stone circle portal thingy in the middle of this town, or on the outskirts, or a distance outside the town, or ... Could be an important detail ;)

Also, thanks garyh! [/sblock]
