To celebrate the re-re-re-release of Episode IV

Reg stop taunting people. You were one a fanboy once. I sense it in you.
Both of you are way off. You sense the Trekkie in me. :]

And to be brutally honest with you, when I first heard he's going back to Star Wars and make the Prequel, I'm skeptical because he hasn't polish his directing skill since Return of the Jedi way back in the 80's. Of course, I assume he'll ask his buddy Spielberg to direct.

*BUZZZZZ!!!!* Well, that's what I get for assuming.

The only one that bugged me was Greedo shooting first. That completely changed things.

That and Jabba. IMO, the "original" Jabba just plain suck. They don't add anything to the movie.

FWIW, I'm waiting for 2007 (30th Anniversery of Star Wars) and the re-re-re-re-release of the film. I'm expecting a 16-disc boxset consisting of no less than 47 versions of the movie.......

IIRC, the original theatrical version ANH didn't have the Jabba scene, though Lucas kept the footage until he can later add it in the Special [Extended] Edition.

He didn't renumber them. They were always episodes 4-6.

When first released, Star Wars was just "Star Wars". It was later renumbered "Episode IV: A New Hope". While he may have had the idea of doing 6 films, he (or the studio) wasn't going to label a film as part 4 of a 6 part series unless they knew it was sucessful enough to to even warrant 1 sequel.

You are correct. That's why I put it in quotes.

I've actually seen the actual original scene. Jabba is a fat slob in furs. Kinda "Doofus the Barbarian".

Okay- I see what you're saying. Yes- Star Wars was originally released with the theatrical title "Star Wars", but it was always Episode IV: A New Hope- that was the title that scrawled across the screen in the very beginning. So yes, they were originally Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, but technically speaking Star Wars was A New Hope.

Personally, I still think of it as Star Wars myself, and wish they'd have made the "Episode #" portion of the titles in the prequels less prominent (just calling them The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith, with the episode #s much smaller), but I'm sure someone in PR/Marketing thought it would be better to label them the way they currently are.

Yeah, that someone is Georgie-Boy. He's a fan of Saturday matinee film serials of the 1930's and 40's, like Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon (both featuring Buster Crabbe).
