to Follow or not to Follow..

I'm currently running a 2nd ed FR campain and the ranger PC in the group is now 10th leve and has started to attract followers. Now I never know how to deal with these little critters that follow her around like lost puppies. I tend to forget about them until it is convinient, saying something to the effect that they have simply been following you quietly.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with followers, and also henchmen. Cause I am running two NPC's in the group right now as it is, and I don't want to have to run like 7 people. It gets kind of confusing for group interaction when one person is doing all the dialoge for 7 people.

I suggest the PC ranger be in charge of his own followers, but that you can intervene when you feel like it. Most of the time the henchmen act as the PCs says they do, but sometimes you take back control of them as you see fit for important things.
