I got my second stent today. It went very smoothly, and TIL that the horrible two days after the first stent were an allergic reaction ti fentanyl. Holy smokes. All I can say is, if you’re thinking of developing a fentanyl habit, check for allergies first.

(They use fentanyl to enhance the general relaxant. Without, they have to more of it. In my case, everyone was enthusiastically in favor of the tradeoff.)

Fentanyl is funny stuff. I had a long hospital stay years ago, and in week before my discharge they wanted to wean me down off of the dilaudid, and did so with fentanyl patches.

It's such a heavily controlled thing, that the nurse had to come in every several hours and check to make sure I still had it on. One time she came in to check, and it was missing! That caused quite a disturbance. Fortunately it had just gotten stuck to the blanket and got pulled off, and I wasn't actually a ne'er do well up to no good.
