I was just thinking about this song recently. Of course we were int he middle of flooding at the time, so...
I;ve been flooded 5-6 times in 25 years or so and I lost count. Last time I got drunk as my friend said, "How can you be so calm as water is pouring into your house?", I said. "I've seen it before, and water is the most powerful force on earth."

Blind Melon is great. Word is he showed up to that video shoot on Lysergic Acid Diethylamide 25. Its a great video

I got away lucky with just a little water in the basement. Easy clean-up. Many in the Toronto area weren't as lucky.

TIL that Colonel Harlan Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, had his primary residence 20 minutes' drive from my house at the time of his death.

EDIT - I should note that house was in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada rather than Kentucky. He paid something like $22K for it in 1960, if I read right. The same home would probably go for around $750K today but that's due to the crazy housing market, not simple inflation. A far cry from what CEOs live in these days.

They started after I was put on a course of Prednisone, and they never went away. I filed for permanent disability in 2019, which I got in 2022.

It is funny you mention this reaction to predisone. I didn't quite have the issue you described but any time I have been prescribed it, I feel uncomfortably restless and wired. I drink coffee every day and when I have been on prednisone I don't even drink coffee, maybe a sip to avoid getting headaches, but it is like my body is just beyond jittery when I take the stuff (even if it is just drops)

I've taken to; besides the hot water tank, furnace, washer and dryer, I don't store anything in the basement, I actually designed my own gravity fed redundant sump pump. I can send you the specs if you want
I've had a little seepage when the rain comes down especially hard, because the landlord hired idiot contractors who don't understand that you slope the ground AWAY from the house, not TOWARDS it, but that was it until last Tuesday. This is the first time that I've had water come up the basement drain, at all. I'll be getting the landlord to install a backflow preventer and I don't envision having any more issues. Thanks, though.

EDIT - Oh, and I'm working on the grading myself, as the landlord can't be trusted to not hire the lowest common denominator.

Toronto is on Lake Ontario if I'm right? Tim Horton wrecked the car he got as a signing, bonus with the Sabres. The Sabres general manager said "that car will be the death of him." Ithink both him and Pele Linburg died in Panteras, the car
