not sure this is off-topic (it is general rpg), but..

From Slashdot:
Games: Black Isle Studios Shuts Down Development

from the bye-bye-president dept.
Zonk writes "RPGDot has a story up right now about the closing down of development at Black Isle Studios. The information comes from an unnamed Interplay source, who says 'Any time you see the [Black Isle] logo on a future product, know that no one who was associated with BIS actually worked on it', as well as a post by BIS employee Damien Foletto on the Interplay message boards, and a Blue's News story that adds: 'The non-announced [PC] title that the division was working on, Fallout 3 [aka Van Buren], has been 'shelved', to quote management.' BIS, you will be missed." Black Isle are particularly known for work on the Fallout series, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment.

Also a Sean K Reynolds was lead designer, not sure if it is the same one as ghostwalk.

I've already done my crying (privately) and cursing (publicly) - no need to repeat that here other than to join others in lamenting this latest cruelty by Interplay.

::sniff::

Sean still has his job, as apparently many others. This seems to have been blown out of proportions, I think, especially since no official announcement has been made. Yes, there were layoffs, but I don't think that "no one who was associated with BIS actually worked on it[future products]" is quite accurate as of yet. If this was a leak from the highest of highs, then it might be true, but lost of rumors have been spread about BIS in the past.

There are still about 15 of us at Black Isle, including me. No announcement yet about projects or the role of the BIS name in future Interplay efforts. I'm not in a position to give more info, but I do enjoy shooting down inaccuracies in rumors.
