Wow, I'm stuck in the middle of the wilderness surrounded by country bumpkins. I hope these fellow adventurers are competent, and we can watch each other's backs. But not too competent, because I don't want them to show me up. Kerrik mulls over these thoughts while finishing his stew, then looks up, studying everyone's face.
"The food here isn't too bad. I'm Kerrik Dev...er...just Kerrik, thank you. Umm, maybe you already covered this, but what exactly are we being paid for? Just find some goblin horde? Kill it? Protect the town?"
Kerrik then gets up, and starts pacing back and forth. "I think we need to agree on something before I sign up. Your cause isn't paltry, small, or insignificant. It's your life, your family's life, everyone's life here in Green Hills." All twenty people of it.
"Further, it's my life. I don't risk my life for insignificant causes. What you have here is worth defending. I'm in." Kerrik smiles triumphantly.
