Tom Brady is the man

I'm not a Pats fan, even though I live in CT, but the Pats should have won that game. They had the colts on the ropes when they were up 21-3 but just couldn't finish the job, and then when the momentum shifted, it was pretty much all Colts. The Pats defense couldn't solve him (for the most part) in the second half. Plus, for some odd reason, the Pats kept trying to run Morrone(sp?) instead of Dillon. Dillon was gaining yardage in the first half. Morrone did nothing.

Give Peyton and the Colts credit though.

Dillon is done (or at least no longer a feature back).

I saw very old legs in that game. In his prime, that long run he had would have been a TD - easy. He looked tired.

They completely abandoned the running game in the 2nd half. I don't think Dillon had a single carry in the 2nd half and Maroney looked confused when he got the ball. He had 13 yards on 8 carries. I kept screaming for the Pats to run the ball and wondering where Dillon was. The Pats' play-calling was very confusing and frustrating.

I'm not saying I disagree. In fact, I do agree that he's pretty much done. However, he was still more effective than Morrone in that game.

Maroney, actually, though you got it right phonetically.

Maroney was just tearing it up earlier in the season, but I think he got injured at some point (edit: just looked it up -- he got hurt against the Lions on 12/3, and sat out the next two games), and a lot of rookies tend to wear down late in the season, not being accustomed to playing 20+ games in one season (counting pre-season). He's not the same back he was in October.

The Pats did abandon the run in the 2nd half, but then again they weren't running it very well overall. Take away Dillion's long 4th down run and his stats look bad (6 carries for 13 yards). Faulk was their most productive back and that was because of misdirection and a couple good draw plays. The easy TD Dillon got was the O-line more than his good running, too.

I give the credit to the Colts D. They took away the Pats running game to the point where they didn't even bother using it later in the game.

Here's a scary thought I heard on the radio last night after the game:

The Pats have 2 first-round picks this year. :D
The Pats have the 24th pick (from Seattle) and the 28th pick in the first round. Gives them some flexibility which is nice. They really need to upgrade their receivers and linebackers. And they should be looking at another power back to spell Dillon as he has maybe a year left.

The guy's dating Giselle Freakin' Bundchen. He is the MAN every day. And every night. :D

That was kind of the point of my original post. His teams loses the championship game yet he's still the man. For some reason, I can't help rooting for him when I'm usually bitter about such things. ;)
